Home Artist works Jackie Margaret

Jackie Margaret -nee Stott was born in Timaru and grew up in Oamaru where she attended Waitaki Girls High School.

Jackie Studied Fine Art At Ilam School of Fine Arts At Canterbury University from  1979 -84 (DFA)

I Have worked in various mediums over the years including drawing, painting, lost wax, bronze casting, clay, ceramics and stone carving.

Most often I use a figurative form to express the power of divinity of the human spirit. When I begin to carve in hard stone I try to have a clear vision of my intention. However as the work proceeds Iallow myself to be guided by the qualities and limitations of the stone. This is called 'reductive' as a  process of carving and differs from soft mediums such as clay or wax which are additive by nature.
