Christopher John Wright

I was born in Oamaru and I went to school in Oamaru.
I attended Waitaki Boys High School.
I started art and carving in the Art Room at Waitaki Boy's when I was a pupil there.
I like carving because it is fun.I like carving with Oamaru Stone best but I also carve with wood and make sculptures out of wax.
I like carving houses and other old buildings and sometimes I colour my stone. Mustard orange is my favourite colour.
I have had some exhibitions of my work and carved at the Stone Symposium in 2009.
I carved a building of the hall of memories at Waitaki Boys High School.
I also paint pictures in wter colours and acrylics.
This year I had some paintings accepted for he Art Society Exhibition in the Forrester Gallery.
Every week I go to the Red Shed to work on my carvings wih my friend and fellow carver Oliver. I have been doing a carving of the Catholic Bascillica in Oamaru. I like carving with other carvers and looking at their work but I like using my own ideas when I carve.
I am looking forward to carving t the Stone Symposium this November 2011.
